Hypnotherapy for weight gain or weight loss can help you achieve your ideal weight safely and with less conscious effort.
Hypnotherapy for weight gain
The concept of gaining weight can sound alien to some.
Why would anyone want to gain weight? Surely people only want to lose weight?
There are many reasons why someone may want to gain weight.
Many people are aware of the dangers of obesity but being underweight brings its own health problems including:
- Feeling tired more often
- Decreased immune function
- Osteoporosis (weakened bones)
Read what the NHS says about being underweight to find out more about these.
I’m not a doctor so I cannot diagnose medical issues. I strongly advise you see a doctor first if you think your lack of weight is due to medical reasons.
I help by reprogramming your mind to subconsciously assist you in gaining weight in a safe and responsible way. Hypnotherapy is for when you just want to put on weight and have no medical issues related to this.
Let’s look at what could be stopping you from gaining weight and how we go about working with that.
Why you find it hard to gain weight
If you are finding it hard to gain weight then it’s often because your mind is stopping you.
In the same way that some people find it hard to lose weight, others find it hard to gain it.
Why is that though? There can be several reasons and it’s different for everyone.
You will not be able to find these reasons in your mind just by thinking about them. Once in hypnosis however, these memories are much easier to access and people are often amazed to recall things they had long forgotten. You never know what is going to come up!
Here’s one example.
Louise’s weight gain story
Louise had problems wth being underweight for years. She could never bring herself to finish a whole meal and never had much of an appetite. She didn’t have a medical issue, she just simply found that she didn’t want to eat much.
Louise found the reason for not wanting to eat during hypnosis. The problem came from her childhood where she had witnessed a bigger girl at school being bullied over her weight.
Those images of bullies making fun of this other girl and making her cry formed an image in Louise’s mind that gaining weight would lead to pain and suffering. To Louise’s mind, if she ate too much she was going to end up being bullied and humiliated like the other girl was.
Once this was discovered, Louise’s mind could be taught that those images and ideas were years old and out of date! She enjoyed eating more from then on and went on to gain over a stone in weight which made her feel more confident and stopped her worrying about eating.
That’s how your mind thinks. It can seem silly at times but it’s perfectly logical, your mind is simply doing what it thinks is best.
Using hypnosis allows us to put aside your conscious thoughts that get in the way and get to the root cause of the issue. That way your mind learns that what it’s doing isn’t what you want and we can make changes that have a deep and lasting effect on your life.
How hypnotherapy for weight gain works
Using hypnosis is nothing like people think.
You don’t go into a trance, you aren’t unconscious and you certainly don’t lose control. If you are thinking of TV shows where hypnotists make people sing and forget their name then don’t worry – that is not what we do with hypnotherapy.
Now let’s look at how we use hypnosis for weight gain.
Starting your course
Unlike fixing phobias which can be done in under an hour, hypnotherapy for weight gain is an ongoing process.
We will start work straight away by removing any blocks from your mind that are preventing you, like in Louise’s story above. Sometimes this can result in an emotional reaction but don’t worry, I’ve seen it all before and everything is done in the strictest confidence.
While you’re enjoying hypnosis we’ll also plant some positive ideas (affirmations) in your mind that will help you achieve your goal.
You’ll find that you are more willing to eat (if that was your issue) and that you find it easier to gain weight than before. It really is a pleasant feeling to be able to do something you have struggled with for so long!
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, I have experienced all of this myself and it’s nothing to worry about. One time I gave myself the suggestion that when I woke up the next day I would be obsessed with eating a banana. As soon as I woke the only thing I could think about was eating a banana!
Yes, hypnotherapists can be a bit odd like that. We have to try stuff out to know that it works and I like to do things with a bit of humour – dry therapy isn’t my style!
That doesn’t mean I’ll have you craving bananas. I just wanted to show you how as a therapist I have been through these things myself. I’d never ask a client to do anything I wasn’t willing to do myself so it was important to me that I experienced what you will.
I’ve written a whole page and made a video about your first hypnotherapy session.
How the course works
We’ll set goals and targets and work towards each one step by step.
Gaining weight is not just about spending all day in a fast food restaurant. It’s not just about eating different food, it’s more complicated than that.
Very often it’s getting rid of blocks and removing any resistance to eating that makes for the biggest change.
I’ll be there to help you along the way and be assured that there is no contract to sign. You are free to leave anytime you like so if you feel you’ve achieved your goal or just want to stop then that’s fine.
From the start, we’ll make it so that you can stop gaining weight when you’ve reached your target. You won’t just keep putting weight on forever!
